Child, 9, airlifted to MUSC with traumatic injuries from ATV crash

COLLETON COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – A child was airlifted to the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) on Tuesday after suffering multiple traumatic injuries in an ATV accident.

The incident happened shortly before 5 p.m. off Trantham Drive near the Smoaks community.

Officials with Colleton County Fire Rescue (CCFR) said the 9-year-old was not wearing a helmet at the time. He was treated at the scene before eventually being airlifted to the Children’s Trauma Center at MUSC Shawn Jenkins Children’s Hospital in Charleston.

The child’s condition is currently unknown.
