36-year-old killed by teen in Sunday night shooting, coroner says
NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) — A 36-year-old was killed in a Sunday night North Charleston shooting, according to the coroner’s office.
Derrick Cobbs of North Charleston died at Trident Medical Center at 10:44 p.m. Sunday from a gunshot, Charleston County Coroner Bobbi Jo O’Neal said.
North Charleston detectives arrested Hakeem Wayne Johnson for murder and possession of a firearm during a violent crime Monday in connection to the shooting.
North Charleston Police say Johnson was walking along Gable Street and took him into custody.
Officers responded to Dakota Street Sunday after receiving a report that a man down in the street was not moving, police said.
First responders found the man, identified as Cobbs, and took him to Trident, where he died.
Johnson is booked at the Al Cannon Detention Center.
