Summerville man convicted, sentenced for possessing child sex abuse material

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – A Summerville man was convicted and sentenced in federal court for crimes against children after pleading guilty to possessing child sex abuse materials.

Adam Baez,46, was sentenced to 17 years in prison after evidence presented in court showed Baez possessed more than 600 images of child sex abuse material. He also exploited a minor for several years and produced images of the victim, according to the Department of Justice.

U.S. District Judge David C. Norton ordered Baez’s prison sentence to be followed by lifetime court-ordered supervision, and he must pay $15,000 in restitution to his victims.

Homeland Security Investigations investigated this case. Assistant U.S. Attorney Amy F. Bower is the prosecutor.
