Coroner ID’s teen victim in Ridgeville apartment shooting

BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – The Berkeley County Coroner’s Office has identified the teenager killed in a shooting at an apartment complex in Ridgeville.

Marion Ja’Quell Simuel, 18, of Ridgeville is identified as the victim, according to Coroner Darnell D. Hartwell.

As previously reported, the incident occurred at The Preserve apartment complex around 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday.

Deputies made contact with the suspect upon arrival at the apartment complex, he became agitated and attempted to flee. Deputies were ultimately able to catch the suspect and take him into custody.

Officials said after investigators did a sweep of the apartment they found a deceased male inside. That male was identified as Simuel by the Berkeley County Coroner’s Office.
