Colleton Schools to hold e-learning day on Monday amid power outages
COLLETON COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – Colleton County School District has announced an e-learning day for Monday, September 30, 2024, as power outages continue to affect 21% of the county’s residents.
The decision was made out of concern for the safety and well-being of students, staff, and families while the district’s Buildings and Grounds team continues to assess the condition of school facilities.
In addition to remote learning, the district will offer bagged breakfast and lunch meals for all students. The meal distribution plan is as follows:
- Car Riders: Parents can pick up meals from their child’s school between 10:00 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. If a family has children at multiple schools, meals can be picked up from Colleton County Middle School during the same hours to avoid multiple trips.
- Bus Riders: Meals will be delivered to students’ regular bus stops between 10:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m.
The school district will continue to provide updates on its website and social media platforms by 4:00 p.m. each day. Families are encouraged to stay informed and practice safety protocols during this period. The delay in communicating these plans was due to the logistical coordination required to ensure students are fed.
