Some Charleston area customers still dealing with Xfinity outage

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – An outage impacting Xfinity customers in the Charleston metro continued into a second day for some customers.

Amanda Verdin, a representative for the cable and internet provider, told News 2 that they still had a small number of people experiencing a service disruption as of Wednesday afternoon.

Verdin added that a majority of customers were back online by 6:30 a.m.

The large-scale disruption was allegedly caused by a cut fiber on a line that runs from August to Charleston. They said a third-party crew cut the line while clearing debris during storm restoration.

Customers across the tri-country reported the outage beginning at around 5 p.m. Tuesday and lasted through the night.

“We’d like to thank our technicians, utility employees and first responders who’ve been working tirelessly to get folks back connected ASAP,” Verdin said.

The outage affected cable and Wi-Fi service.
