HOW 2 HELP: Day 2 of News 2’s Hurricane Helene Donation Drive

MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (WCBD) – After two days and two fully packed containers, the Lowcountry has shown an outpouring of support for victims of Hurricane Helene.

News 2’s donation drive, aimed at providing relief to the storm-ravaged Upstate, has collected a variety of essential supplies, thanks to the generosity of residents.

As people across the region look for ways to assist neighbors affected by the devastating winds and flooding from Hurricane Helene, News 2 has partnered with UNITS to gather critical storm relief items.

These supplies will be delivered to communities in South Carolina’s Upstate, where many are still without food, water, and necessities.

Those interested in helping can drop off donations at News 2’s location (210 W. Coleman Boulevard) from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday. Items most needed include:

  • Non-perishable food items
  • Water and sports drinks
  • Flashlights and batteries
  • Paper towels and paper products (plates, bowls, cups, flatware)
  • Baby diapers, wipes, and other essentials
  • Personal hygiene and feminine hygiene items
  • Cleaning supplies and trash bags

For those unable to drop off supplies, monetary donations are also welcome. Donations can be made through the American Red Cross via the Hurricane Helene relief portal, with all funds going directly toward storm recovery efforts.

The support from the Lowcountry continues to be a beacon of hope for those recovering from the aftermath of Hurricane Helene.
