Edisto Island Library reopens after months of renovation

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – The Charleston County Public Library is scheduled to open its newly renovated Edisto Island Library on Monday.

Charleston County Public Library is celebrating the reopening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the location on Monday at 10 a.m.

The library closed in April 2024 to undergo renovations as part of the 108.5 million referendum-funded project passed by Charleston County voters in 2014. The decision was made to build five new libraries and renovate all existing branches.

Officials have announced the updates will include new paint and furniture. Speakers from the library, Charleston County Government, and elected officials will be in attendance at the ribbon cutting.

The Edisto Island Library was the first branch library to open within the Charleston County Public Library system in 1931.

The renovated Edisto Island Library is located at 1589 Hwy 174 at Trinity Church.
