Victim of fatal Summerville shooting identified, suspect charged

SUMMERVILLE, S.C. (WCBD) – The Charleston County Coroner has identified the victim of a Saturday night shooting in a Summerville subdivision.

52-year-old Paul “Tony” Malphrus died from a gunshot wound on Coosawatchie Street, Coroner Bobbi Jo O’Neal said.

Summerville police responded to reports of a shooting at the Lakes of Summerville around 7:15 p.m. Saturday. Malphrus was pronounced deceased on the scene at 7:18 p.m. after being found lying near the front door of a residence.

Adonis Malone, 30, was charged with involuntary manslaughter and possession of a weapon during a violent crime. Malone was released from the Al Cannon Detention Center on a $75,000 bond.

Summerville PD’s investigation into the incident is ongoing.
