Summerville man receives twenty-year sentence for sexually assaulting 8-year-old girl
DORCHESTER COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – A Summerville man has been sentenced to twenty years in prison for the repeated sexual assault of an 8-year-old girl.
Solicitor David Pascoe announces that Christian Vanderhoof, 26, has been convicted of two counts of criminal sexual conduct third degree.
“We must continue to believe our children,” said Chief Deputy Solicitor Kelly Amell LaPlante, prosecutor of the case. “The only reason we were able to prosecute this case is because of a brave little girl and her parents who fully believed her when she told them what had happened. We’re so grateful for this family’s support of their child, each other, and our office’s efforts to bring Mr. Vanderhoof to justice.”
According to Pascoe, Vanderhoof avoided trial by pleading guilty before the Honorable Maite Murphy.
The Solicitor’s Office thanks Sergeant Detective Leta Boehler and the Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office for their work on this case.
He is currently being held at the Dorchester County Detention Center.
