We hope everyone was able to not only enjoy the federal holiday (i.e. day off from work!) that is Martin Luther King Jr. Day, but also take some time to educate yourselves on what made him such a dynamic figure in Black History.

In a lesson on what not to do, just look at how new age rap queen Sexyy Red decided to honor him with an AI-generated image of herself and MLK Jr. in what appears to be the middle of a club with interlocking hands. Actually, the photo caused so much uproar that Bernice King, daughter of the civil rights icon, even chimed in to voice her disdain.

Peep Sexyy Red’s since-deleted social media post below, archived by Rap Radar Podcast:

While we truly believe the “SkeeYee” superstar meant well, or at the very least was just trying to be funny, we can also see how triggering it could be for Dr. Martin’s youngest and one of two last surviving children to witness. Being that the 26-year-old rapper looks rather intimate with MLK in the image, almost as if they’re embracing for a kiss, it could appear a bit disrespectful to the memory of his actual wife, the late great Coretta Scott King. Also, it doesn’t quite help her case having songs like “Pound Town,” “Looking For The Hoes,” “I Don’t Wanna Be Saved” and “Slob On My Ckat” to her name — no judgement though!

She also posted another AI photo with her and Martin Luther King Jr., which even had a Chief Keef cameo and “F**k Trump” insignia to boot. That one has also since been deleted.

Keep scrolling to see some of the various reactions on social media to Sexyy Red literally tarnishing the image of Martin Luther King Jr. Let us know if you agree with the backlash or actually got her joke:

1. All those crazy club flyers of MLK Jr that Atlanta folks have made over the years and I’ve never seen Bernice say something, so imagine my shock at her telling Sexyy Red off about that pic 💀 My Lord She said:

2. Craziest part is that this isn’t even lewd imagery 😂😂😂 it is literally just Sexyy Red holding MLK’s hand and his daughter said, “Oh you’ve gone too far” 😂😂😂

3. People are siding with Sexyy Red over MLK daughter because of an AI photo she posted of herself locking hands with and looking into the eyes of MLK..Jesus send the flood 😑

4. I’m sorry it doesn’t sit right with me that she chose to publicly call out specifically Sexyy Red, like this is really anywhere close to the most offensive Dr. King has been portrayed. It’s honestly going against what her father was fighting for imo.

5. Nigga its a disrespectful picture of her Father. You cannot seriously be sayin a Daughter that is agitated by a picture of her dead father “doesnt sit right with you” like you’ve done 0.1 percent of what he did

via @SunsTirade98

6. You know Martin Luther King was pushing that we were all created equal so it doesn’t matter what I’ve done or not done. And further more it adds to my point that Sexyy Red didn’t deserve all that. She’s not coming at everyone else making THOUSANDS of MLK actually offensive memes.

7. Sexy Redd deleted that pic she posted about mlk after mlk daughter told her to & I respect that

via @biczaddy

8. being an elitist is degenerate. MLK used to party with women just like Sexyy Red

9. someone told sexyy red she definitely wasn’t in mlk’s dream im cryin lmaoooo

via @two__ez

10. Sexyy Red got cooked by MLK’s daughter but she has every right to do that you can’t disrespect her dad like that
