North Charleston reported a decease in violent crimes in January

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – The North Charleston Police Department saw a decline in violent crimes last month.
Statistics provided by the department on social media show violent crimes decreased by 27% through January 2025.
Data from NCPD says there was one fewer homicide compared to the same period in 2024. Aggravated assaults decreased by 25%, and aggravated assaults involving guns dropped by 35%.
North Charleston police added that robberies decreased by 7% while business robberies remained the same as in 2024. Individual robberies also decreased by 7%.
However, the department said non-violent crimes in the department’s jurisdiction increased by 2%. Burglaries rose by 33% and business burglaries increased by 60%, totaling three more than last year.
DUI arrests increased by 433% resulting in 13 arrests.
