College of Charleston student earns 4-chair turn on “The Voice” with blind audition
CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – A 20-year-old College of Charleston student earned a four-chair turn for her opening blind audition on NBC’s “The Voice” Monday night.
Florence native Grace-Miller Moody sang Maroon 5’s “Sunday Morning” for her performance and ended up choosing to be on frontman Adam Levine’s team for season 27.
Before performing, Moody explained that after her younger brother had recovered from a Leukemia battle, her family took a trip to see Maroon 5 perform live in Las Vegas. She said it was that trip that helped her family heal.
Back from a five-year break, Levine said, “I can definitely help you get to where you need to go because the potential for you is limitless” when making his pitch for Moody to join his team.
Fellow coach and country star Kelsea Ballerini noted how Levine rarely turns his chair for a performance to his own song after Moody sang.
“Adam notoriously does not turn for his own song, so you have broken the code,” Ballerini said.
After making her choice, Levine gifted Moody with a custom ‘Team Adam’ sweatshirt.
“It feels amazing. This whole experience has been crazy, meeting the people that I’ve met,” Moody said in an after-performance interview. “Going through the whole thing and having my family alongside has just been amazing.”
