Woman seriously injured after being hit by pickup truck
COLLETON COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – A woman was severely injured after being hit by a pickup truck over the weekend in Colleton County, fire officials said.
The woman was struck at the intersection of Charleston Highway and Sandy Dam Lane around 9:10 p.m.
She was wearing dark clothes, and there were no street lights in the area, according to Colleton County Fire-Rescue. After the collision, the pickup truck driver stopped to render aid.
When paramedics arrived, they found the woman lying in a ditch near the woods, and she complained of numerous injuries.
EMS treated her at the scene before she was transported to the trauma center at Trident Medical Center. The pickup truck driver was not injured.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating.
