Authorities investigating officer-involved shooting in Mount Pleasant

MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (WCBD) – Authorities are investigating a Tuesday afternoon officer-involved shooting in Mount Pleasant.

The incident happened near the East Cooper Plaza shopping center off Johnnie Dodds Boulevard.

Police said one officer was injured and taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The State Law Enforcement Division confirmed that they are investigating the incident as an officer-involved shooting.

The Mount Pleasant Police Department currently has several officers on the scene. The roadway surrounding the incident scene is blocked off by law enforcement.

Police said there is no danger to the public at this time, but people are asked to avoid the area while officers remain on the scene.
