Viral Dating Show “Pop The Balloon” Is Moving to Netflix

YouTube’s most viral (and, possibly, most ridiculous) dating show is heading to Netflix!

Deadline reports the streamer ordered a live version of Pop The Balloon, set to air Thursday nights at 8pm ET, starting April 10.

The series, created by host Arlette Amuli and her husband Bolia Matundu, features singles looking for love within a line of potential mates. The longer the person does not pop their balloon, the more likely they are to want a date.

Amuli and Matundu have run nearly 50 episodes on YouTube, garnering over 100 million views worldwide.

The Netflix version is set to include some major star power. While Amuli and Matundu will serve as executive producers, Insecure alum Yvonne Orji will take over as host.

Orji expressed her excitement about joining the show in a statement to VIBE:

“It’s really great to see BM and Arlette’s vision expand to this version, due to their creativity, consistency and desire for more connection. After playing the ‘unlucky in love’ Molly Carter for five seasons on Insecure, I know a thing or two about looking for love in a hopeless place. Hopefully the singles on Pop The Balloon Live will have much more success.”

Alongside everyday singles, Pop The Balloon Live will also see some reality TV stars trying their luck. Appearances include The Challenge’s Johnny Bananas, The Ultimatum’s Zaina Sesay, Chase DeMoor from Too Hot To Handle, and Teen Mom alum Farrah Abraham.

In a press release, Amuli and Matundu expressed their thoughts on the evolution of their show:

“We’re thrilled to see Pop the Balloon take on a new life on Netflix. From day one, we’ve kept love and fun at the heart of the show, and watching it evolve and soar beyond our wildest dreams has been truly exciting. As executive producers, we’re proud to support this next chapter and can’t wait for both new and longtime fans to experience it.”
