Tesla driver killed after running off road near Kingstree, overturning in yard

WILLIAMSBURG COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – The driver of a Tesla was killed Tuesday after running off a Williamsburg County roadway and hitting a parked vehicle.

Sgt. Tyler Tidwell with the South Carolina Highway Patrol said a 2023 Tesla was heading west on New Zion Road near Green Road when it ran off the roadway, hit a culvert, and overturned into a yard.

The vehicle then struck an unoccupied Chevrolet Silverado that was parked in the yard.

Sgt. Tidwell said the driver of that Tesla, who was the one person in the vehicle, died at the scene. Their name has not yet been released by the Williamsburg County Coroner’s Office.

The crash is under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
