Suspect found hiding under house after multi-county pursuit

CHARLESTON COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – A suspect who fled a traffic stop Saturday was found hiding under a house after a multi-county chase, the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office said.

Charleston County deputies initiated the stop on a vehicle for speeding near the intersection of Highway 17 and Highway 45. The suspect vehicle fled, and a pursuit ensued that crossed into Berkeley County.

After a while, the driver ditched his vehicle and fled into the woods near United Drive in Huger.

Agents from the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office and Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene. A BCSO K9 was deployed to track the suspect who was ultimately found under a house.

After the suspect came out from under the house they were taken to the Medical University of South Carolina.

Charleston County deputies charged the suspect with DUI in the second, failure to stop, no proof of insurance, and speeding. The Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office charged the suspect with resisting arrest.

They were booked at the Al Cannon Detention Center.
