Police searching for ‘armed assailant’ on Sullivan’s Island

SULLIVANS ISLAND, S.C. (WCBD) – Authorities are responding Thursday to an incident on Sullivan’s Island.

The town issued an alert asking residents to “shelter in place” while authorities were “actively in pursuit” of an armed assailant wearing a red shirt and dark shorts.

Sgt. Matt Storen told News 2 that a suspect struck multiple children near Sunrise Presbyterian Church and took off. He said the suspect is considered armed and dangerous.

Witnesses told News 2 that they saw multiple EMS and law enforcement vehicles in the area.
