2 accused of murder in connection to West Ashley homicide

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – Charleston police have arrested two people for murder in connection with a domestic-related homicide, the agency said Wednesday.

Jean Irene Lesperance, 36, of North Charleston, is charged with murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime.

Jacinda Francesca Trader, 28, of Saint George, is also charged with murder.

Officers responded to a home on Hollywood Drive in West Ashley around 8 p.m. Sunday for reports of a shooting.

When they arrived, police found the victim dead from a gunshot wound. After investigating further, authorities determined that the victim and Lesperance had been in a romantic relationship in the past.

They also determined that Trader helped Lesperance before and after the murder. The pair was arrested in Florence with assistance from the Florence County Sheriff’s Office and the U.S. Marshals.

Both suspects are in custody at the Florence County Detention Center awaiting a transfer to the Al Cannon Detention Center.

Intimate partner violence is a serious and deeply complex issue that affects individuals, families, and entire communities.
